Data Analyst

Wave is now the largest financial institution in Senegal, with over 7 million users. And, we’re still in the early days of our product roadmap and potential impact on people’s everyday lives.

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join our product teams. In this role, you’ll;

• Be embedded in a product team where you will work closely with a product manager, engineers and operations leads.
• Help find, test and implement process improvements to make our operations more efficient.
• Derive insights from financial data, visualize and communicate these in ways that improve user and business outcomes.
• Take full ownership of the analytics process – from project scoping and design through communicating findings to stakeholders.
• Be excited and open to supporting areas such as improving budget planning and developing frameworks and insights for more accurate revenue forecasting.

Key Details

• You can work remotely from anywhere (between UTC -5 and +4) with reliable Internet access. Please note that this role will work very closely with operations teams that are based in UTC + 0 and a meaningful work day overlap would be required.
• Wave covers travel once per year to one of our operating countries in Africa, as well as a yearly stipend of $1200 to meet with coworkers.
• Our salaries are competitive and are calculated using a transparent formula. For this role, depending on your level and location, we offer a salary between $96,400  $137,000 USD (paid in your local currency equivalent), plus a generous equity package.
• We run performance reviews twice a year and award bonuses or promotions to strong performers who have been with the company for more than six months.

Requirements

• Education and Experience
• 3+ years experience as a product analyst, data analyst, data scientist or similar role.
• Experience working in large operational settings (example: support/call centers, fleet management, supply chain operations, retail operations etc).
• Experience working with analytics platforms such as Tableau, Looker, Periscope, Sigma etc.
• Fluency in English. French is a plus.

Technical skills

• Strong SQL skills (experience with dbt is a plus). While data architecture is not a strong requirement, having experience in it will be helpful in this role.
• Strong demonstrable experience in discovery, hypothesis testing and inference over fuzzy problems and large data sets.
• A baseline understanding of designing, running and evaluating A/B tests.
• Strong data visualization and communication skills. You’ll be working closely with operations leads so being able to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders is a key skill we are looking for.
