Philip Morris International Inc. (PMI) is a leading international tobacco company, with products sold in over 180 countries and a workforce of ~83,100 people. While historically known for Marlboro, PMI is currently shifting its focus toward smoke-free products—such as the IQOS heat-not-burn system—aiming to replace cigarettes with scientifically substantiated, less harmful alternatives.
We are looking for a high-potential legal professional with early career experience to support the Legal Affairs function. This role is suited to someone who has gained exposure within a legal advisory firm or an in-house legal team and is looking to build their experience within a multinational environment.You will work closely with the Legal Counsel and chip in to a broad range of legal, compliance, and governance activities across the business.
Your day to day
- Support the preparation of legal documentation for statutory meetings, including General Assemblies
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of contracts (services, procurement, distribution, IT, partnerships)
- Partner with Human Resources on labour-related matters, including employment contracts, dispute prevention, and compliance with labour laws
- Ensure compliance with personal data protection regulations and internal data privacy policies
- Provide clear, timely legal advice across a range of business topics
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making
- Support the implementation and monitoring of legal and regulatory obligations, including tobacco control legislation
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and provide relevant updates (legal watch)
- Chip in to risk identification, compliance initiatives, and internal awareness activities (training materials, communications)
- Provide general legal support as required by the Legal Counsel
What we are looking for
- Completed degree in Law (LLM or equivalent)
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in corporate legal practice (law firm or in-house)
- Experience within a multinational, international, or cross-border legal environment is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of OHADA law and corporate law
- Good knowledge of contract law
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English & French is essential
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to synthesize complex information
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital/AI tools
- No relocation support will be provided for this position
